Those who know me don't need to know any more.
Those who don't know me probably aren't interested, so there isn't anything else to say really.

No two days are the same. Its great to be able to go to someones home and talk them through the issues that are concerning them and adding real value, in some instances changing their lives.
Another huge advantage is the flexibility that comes with the job. Whilst I do have to travel to the properties being surveyed, I can dictate my reports from home. With email, video calls, file sharing, instant messaging etc, I can reduce the amount of time spent in the office. This allows me to be at home to deal with family matters, support the kids, support Zoe and do the family stuff at key times during the day.

Beavering away in the office.

What a job!

I'm a Chartered Surveyor working in a Consulting Engineering practice.  The vast majority of the job entails advising on domestic properties on issues such as movement, subsidence, damp penetration, leaks, floods etc.

Some favourite stuff

Favorite movies:

Casablanca - for pure entertainment.
The Usual Suspects - a gripping tale, with a classy ending. A beautiful unreliable narrator trick.
A Streetcar Named Desire - Marlon Brando interprets Tennesee Williams. Such a rich text.
Apocalypse Now - must still be the best war movie ever. Read Despatches first.

Here's a list of some of my favorite bands.:

Lou Reed - the soundtrack of my teens.
The Doors.
Led Zeplin - Zoe and I were there at the last UK concert with John Bonham still alive in Knebworth 1978?
BB King, Christy Moore, Talking Heads, The Pogues, The Stone Roses.
